An Open Access Movement A Comprehensive Outlook

Twenty years ago, the world of scientific publishing was very different, with articles available primarily through a subscription model. Keeping this in mind, a comprehensive outlook on Open Access was created as initiated by “Open Society Institute” to promote Open Access (OA) in a conference at Budapest, Hungary on December 1st-2nd, 2001 which was referred to as “Budapest Open Access Initiative [BOAI]”.

As per BOAJ a new definition for open access was coined i.e “The author(s) and copyright holder(s) grant(s) to all users free, irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual right of access to, and a license to copy, use, distribute, transmit, and display the work publicly and to make and distribute derivative works, in any digital medium for any responsible purpose, subject to proper attribution of authorship” and from which every article is “deposited immediately upon initial Publications in at least one online repository”

Complementing the efforts and initiatives of different scientific organizations, societies, and institutions, the concept of Open Access (OA) has now established its own identity in the scientific world.

Open Access means unlimited access and unrestricted use and reuse of all peer-reviewed research articles with the rights to use fully in the digital environment. Everyone can access publications freely which are available online. Open access is rapidly growing in the area of publishing domain and researchers can publish their novel and innovative research in their respective area of discipline.

Open Access Journals are scholarly journals that are available online to the reader "without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself." They not only give royalty to free literature, but also reduce costs for paper-copy production, physical storage, and distribution through digitalized copies

Open Access Publishing

Since Open Access publishing allows the permanent restoration of scientific data through digital copies, other than the constraint of Internet access, scientists around the world can freely share information and collaborate to enhance the growth of science. We are passionate about working with the global academic community to promote open scholarly research to the world.

Through Open Access publication process, scientists/ researchers can avoid subscription fees, copyright and licensing restrictions to access free scholarly literature.
